Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King

My rating: 3 stars on Goodreads

The book was well written and that’s what made me read it till the end. However, I felt the plot was too weak. I mean, nothing happened that I didn’t see coming. At certain points it got repetitive with Vera’s same boring routine at the pizza delivery place. I really expected a mind blowing ending to at least compensate for the monotonicity but that didn’t happen and it left me disappointed as I chose this among all books to read for a very special vacation and now it will be the book I will associate with the said vacation. 😦 The book started on a very promising note and dealt with sensitive issues such as the pains of adolescence, teenage pregnancy, domestic violence, bullying, a complex father daughter relationship and last but not the least, a sad love story (which had the potential for being heartbreaking but ended getting a bit annoying with the helplessness seeming a bit forced). This is the first book of this year that didn’t leave me satisfied. I might even say that you can do without reading it.
