I Am A Writer But Not A Very Good One

I cry in my sleep

Wishing they turn into eloquent poems

They end up wetting my pillow, instead.

I swallow my insecurities

And rearrange my lips into a smile.

But, fear sits on my shoulders

Its taunting whispers burning my insides.

I wish I could write better

I wish I didn’t feel trapped

In an improbable dream.

Only my heart keeps beating

Racing at times,

Stable at others.

‘You are a writer.

The adjective is irrelevant

For you to carry on.’

  1. Dear Kasturi
Your poem expresses what we all feel, I guess. I think you can take heart, though. Your poem “Business as usual” is one of the best poems I’ve read in 2017. I wish I’d written anything half as good!
    With best wishes

    • Wow Penny, thank you for all the love, dear!! Your comment truly made my day ❤ I sometimes feel so humbled as to how kind people are, even though they might be far away and even though we know them so little. This is one such moment. Feeling so grateful! 🙂 Best wishes to you, too.
