I was speechless when I stepped into our honeymoon suite in Thailand. The rooms overlooked the cliffs and the clear beach next to the hotel was already inviting me for a relaxing swim. I stepped into my fancy bikini, one of the many I bought for this occasion. This one was cherry red with thin black straps.

I swam for an hour before building an appetite. Then, sitting on a deck chair, I got engrossed in the thriller I brought with me. The French fries and Margarita were perfect accompaniments to the story.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I noticed him staring at me from a deck chair a little away from mine. I removed my sunglasses and raised my eyebrow.

‘You alone?’

I nodded.

‘There’s a party on this beach tonight, you wanna come?’

I smiled.

So, what if I caught my would-be husband kissing my best friend and called off the wedding? Going ahead for my honeymoon all by myself was still a good idea!

Word Count: 170 Words

I wrote this for the Sunday Photo Fiction Challenge for December 3rd 2017. The idea is to use the photo above as the inspiration for crafting a piece of flash fiction. Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly writing challenge to write a piece of flash fiction in around 200 words or less.
