Mama And Baby’s Day Out #MothersDaySpecial

“Mama, why is the big elephant not facing the small elephant?’ Titli wriggled in my grip, trying to move away and touch the elephant statues on display at the museum.

‘Maybe because the child had annoyed her mother,’ I picked her on my lap, ‘just like you are!’

‘Sorry mama!’ She snuggled her nose against my neck, the smell of baby powder and chocolates soothing my irritation from moments ago.

I promised myself to focus on her more for this week, the rare time during the year, when we came for a vacation. Just the two of us. When I wasn’t juggling work and household chores while my own mother kept Titli company during the day.

‘Mama, I think the mother elephant is going to office leaving little jumbo back with granny!’ She clicked her finger, proud that her five-year-old brain figured it out.

‘Yes, baby. That’s it. She needs to bring money for the little one’s chocolates and toys, no?’ I ruffled her curls and straightened the pink bow on her hair.

‘Little jumbo is lucky to have a loving mama just like mine!’ She kissed me while I held her tight, thanking God for making me her mom.

  1. A perfect story for Mother’s Day. I was reminded of my younger self when I had to juggle work, home, and being a mom but feeling blessed during those moments when being a mom was all there was.
